How to better leverage the Kindle - Galileo

The Kindle Paperwhite (Photo: Flickr / Creative Commons /)

Reviews comparing the experience of a printed book with a Kindle you’ve seen the hills. And articles talking about the new features of the Kindle Paperwhite as well. Already told, in a column that printed mailing x eBook already won and there is not much sense to my reading habits. Then, instead of preparing a simple review, I decided to share the tricks I’ve learned in recent days that let you make the most of the experience with the reader and your Amazon account.

After these tips, it will be difficult to peel off the device:

Send files by e-mail

Forget the idea of ??transferring files via USB – there is a much more practical way to send files to your Kindle. When you registered to your Amazon account, was automatically generated final@kindle.com an email with your credentials. Typically, the top of the email is the same email you used in registration (check the ‘Your Account’ panel after log on Amazon).

After confirming your @ kindle email, make sure you verify that you are authorized to send messages and files to the address – it only receives content previously selected accounts. By default, the email you used to create the account is already authorized. But if you use quite another address, such as a work email, or if you want to authorize another person to send documents to your gadget, empower them here.

Now just enter your normal email service and send an email to the account @ kindle with the desired content attached. You do not even activate a command on Kindle – just the device be connected to the internet the download is automatic. Which means that even if your reader is far, you can send documents to read through it later – if you’re in the office and Kindle are at home, for example,

To send PDFs, create an email, attach PDF file and place, such as subject, ‘convert’. The command will cause your gadget, so you connect to the internet automatically receive the PDF you sent and convert for reading on the reader. Yes, automatically .

What types of files can be opened on Kindle?

Besides PDFs experimentally, can be converted DOC, HTML, JPEG, TXT, GIF, PNG and BMP. Your file is not any of these guys? Use the online programs and the Cloud Convert Convert Online or Calibre software.

Read web articles to your Kindle

HTML can be converted? So that means you can read a web page, say a long article he found online, on Kindle? Save a web page as HTML into your computer and then send it to your email @ kindle. She will continue as formatted in the browser.

Amazon also offers practical Send to Kindle app. Install the program on your browser and when you find an interesting article, press the application button. Ready! He will be waiting for you the reader. But, before you start using it, you will need to authorize the email app on your Amazon account (as I explained there in the beginning).

Create collections

If you like this present writer has little problems ~ ~ and is addicted to books, the best way to not get lost in your digital library is to create collections. For now, as I have not so many files, parted my books to ‘read’, ‘read’, ‘unread’ and ‘work’ (the evidence gained to analyze here in Galileo – by the way, have you read the books section magazine? it is made with the heart.)

Samples are her best friends

Unless you are absolutely certain to buy a particular book, heartily recommend that you download the sample it before making the final transaction. This feature has saved me from polysyllabic frenzy that would cause me to buy books that would forever leaning on my digital bookshelf (or judging me through the collection of ‘unread’).

Read news on your Kindle

Kindle 4rss creates a feed for you with selected links on your Kindle. The free version supports up to 12 sites that show up to 25 articles per issue. Think little? For a subscription of $ 1.99 you are entitled registering 300 sites and have an issue with unlimited number of items.

The differences in the Amazon in Brazil - by her own admission - EXAME.com

São Paulo – What are the future plans of Amazon in Brazil? Days after the announcement that the largest retail company online world begin their physical sales Kindle in the country, this is one of the most intriguing questions that the business world in country.

Apparently, the answer is kept under lock and key by the company. But in an exclusive interview to EXAME.com, Alexandre Szapiro, executive chairman of the company in Brazil, gives some clues about what we can expect from the Amazon in Brazil, its differentials relative to the competition and how they envision the Brazilian consumer.

EXAME.com – What can we expect from the start of the sale of Kindles to Brazil? There is some projection of sales or growth in the country due to the release
Alexandre Szapiro – I am very happy with the performance of Kindle eBooks Store in Brazil, but do not comment future plans and we can not talk about sales projection.

EXAME.com – As Amazon sees the Brazilian consumer
Alexandre Szapiro – Some people say that Brazilians do not like to read. I I see it another way. I believe that the Brazilian is passionate about reading, but access to books is not easy. There are many municipalities in Brazil that have no local bookstore and besides, the price of books is often a deterrent.

I believe that what we did in just over a year of operation in Brazil with sales of books online has brought results: launched deals eBooks varied and are dedicated to bring the best and most books Amazon customers in digital format <. / p>

EXAME.com – What Amazon will differ for the Brazilian market?
Alexandre Szapiro – Our expectation is to improve the customer experience by offering, for example, a service that connects to them at the time they need help, rather placing them in an interminable wait.

Also, when a user Amazon.com.br buy a Kindle by the website, the e-reader will come pre-registered. When he withdraw the product from the box and connect to the internet, the books of the client library will be downloaded, and it can start reading immediately.

EXAME.com – With physical sales, Amazon enters more directly in the market for large distributors of books like Scott. What is the strategy to deal with this competition
Alexandre Szapiro – Our goal is to give customers more options. We are offering our customers more channels of distribution where they can find the Kindle. We stress that we are announcing is the sale of our line of Kindle e-readers that were already available to customers in the shops of the Village Bookstore, Video & Home (Rio de Janeiro), CTIS (Brasilia), Pontofrio.com , Extra.com, among others.

EXAME.com – In the U.S., Amazon has its own logistics structure, but here chose to outsource the operation. Why
Alexandre Szapiro – We partner with Brazilian companies with knowledge of challenges and we are joining it to what we know from almost 20 years of operating Amazon U.S. retail and other countries.

EXAME.com – The start of these operations can open the door to offering various products such as occurs in the United States
Alexandre Szapiro – No commented on future plans. What we can say today is that we announced this past week the top selling Kindles at Amazon.com.br site. It is too early to comment on the sale of physical products through the site.
