The Kindle Unlimited, the Amazon service that provides unlimited access to a catalog of thousands of ebooks with a monthly subscription, is the way to Brazil. Available in a few countries, it has not been announced officially here, but a page in the Brazilian Amazon reveals that the service will cost R $ 19.90 per month, complete with a tasting of 30 days.
With the service, you can read as many books as you want with a monthly subscription. Ebooks are downloaded directly to the Kindle and other devices connected to the same account; they work with Whispersync, you can synchronize the pages, bookmarks and annotations across your devices. There is no deadline to return, but there is a limit of 10 ebooks borrowed simultaneously.
Some users report that they are already managing to sign the Kindle Unlimited in Brazil. In my tests, the page also said that “an error occurred while joining the program.” In addition, certain links are broken and the page that lists the ebooks available in the program is entitled “KU Test”, indicating that preparations have not been finalized.
The test page shows that just over 760,000 ebooks should be available for Brazilian signing the Kindle Unlimited, with almost 12 thousand in Portuguese. Among the works listed are Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows , A Game of Thrones – The Chronicles of Ice and Fire , politically incorrect guide the history of Brazil and Manual to Dreamers .
Update to 10h58 . Amazon confirmed on the morning of Thursday (11) the launch of Kindle Unlimited in the country. The service can now be signed by all Brazilians on Amazon.
