online An shopper ordered the Kindle on the internet from a firm in California. – only to find he had Been sent a human tumor sample instead

James Potten, of Cotham, Bristol, had expected to unwrap the waterproof e-book reader When he was handed the parcel by FedEx delivery driver.

But When he looked inside, he saw a box marked ‘patient tumor specimen enclosed’ – Which Actually contained human tissue.

The package, Which had Been sent from California, was destined for the Royal Free Hospital in London -. but ended up at his home instead

Mr Potten, an environmental consultant, said: ‘Presumably this is a very important package, that needs to get to the hospital as soon as possible

<. span> ‘It is really bad que this has happened. This really shouldnt be with the hospital, not with me.

‘There is a reason it Has Been sent from America to London , and it Could be wasting valuable team while it just stays here. ‘

The 37- year-old said he has Contacted FedEx a number of times since the mix-up -. but customer service advisors insist the package contained a kindle

Mr Potten said: ‘It was delivered by hand and I signed for it, but when i opened the bag I did not know what to do

‘I have Told Them about the mistake but I am still waiting for FedEx to come and pick it up.

‘I am surprised que They have not Been more concern about it.

‘They keep telling me I’ve got my Kindle, but I obviously have not.’

Mr Potten ordered the Kindle from an American company called Waterfi, Which buys electronic devices and Applies waterproofing substances before selling on Them.

The tracking number he was given Beheerder for the Kindle and the tracking number on the box containing the tumor had the same first two and last three digits.

He said: ‘The tracking numbers are similar so presumably que is what has happened. It’s a mistake on FedEx’s part, rather than the people who posted the items.

‘I have not opened the box but Clearly state the labels que human tumor tissue is inside. Is personal paperwork there to go with it as well.

‘I just want to get it to the hospital now.’

After receiving the parcel on Thursday, Mr Potten posted a photo of the delivery on Twitter.

He wrote: ‘WowFedEx. You’ve swapped my new kindle with a tumor specimen. Still waiting for collection £ FedExFail £ notmykindle. ‘

FedEx Corporation is an global courier American delivery service headquartered in Memphis, Tennessee, Which is Responsible for delivering millions of products worldwide.

No one from the company was available for comment.

It is Understood que the human tissue in the parcel Has Been specially preserved.

A spokesman for the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust said: ‘It Has Been expresso to our attention que a package Intended for one of the Institutions based at the Royal Free Hospital was delivered to an address in Bristol.

‘We understand the parcel delivery company is in the process of redelivering the package to the correct address.

‘We expect the delivery company to contact all the Institutions at the Royal Free site Hospital to establish the identity of the Intended recipient.

‘If the Royal Free London was the Intended recipient we will await answers from the delivery company the to how this mistake was made.’
