Amazon launches Kindle Touch in Brazil for R $ 299 – Yahoo News Brazil

The Amazon in Brazil yesterday launched the latest version of its reader simplest electronic books. The new Kindle now has touch screen, is lighter, has a battery that lasts for weeks and has a “20% faster” processor, according to the manufacturer. And most importantly: it costs 299 dollars, paid in 12 times on Amazon. It’s practically the same price of the device in the US (with IOF and the dollar today, there goes for $ 278), a rarity in terms of electronics.

Almost at the same time, the Library took Culture 100 real price of its Kobo Touch, matching the offer from Amazon. Despite being physically almost identical (weight, size and screen technology), there are some important differences. The Kobo supports “open” format, like ePub, which allows you to read things from several different stores, and gets better with PDFs (by having more choices of font and size). The problem is that it is slower, lacks some features that the Kindle has Wi-Fi and the typography is (personal opinion) a little worse. Ie: to read the same books, the Kindle is better, and the new, cost-effective, even more

Those who purchase the Kindle tends to get stuck in the middle of the Amazon ecosystem, but for those already. has long been using the platform for reading electronic books as I there, it creates a certain Stockholm syndrome. It’s just much more convenient to stay in a store only. Besides the buying process and “delivery” of the book being faster on Amazon, the Whispersync , that this new model allows sync where you are in the book between multiple devices. So if you’re reading something at home on your Kindle and want to continue on the subway, the Kindle app on your smartphone will get the page where you left off. It is these things mid Magic , which has been incredibly helpful to me, several times.

Although the screens of smartphones and tablets are growing are getting lighter, the reading on e-reader is much more enjoyable, not only by weight. The fact that the screen will not be reflective and not emit light changes much experience, especially in open environments (like reading on the beach). Moreover, the fact that not have multitasking helps a lot. If I’m reading the tablet, I often get a particularly boring part of the book (it happens even in the best) and, bored, go back to home and open the Twitter or something. The limited processing and black-and-white screen e-reader mean that you end up being mono-task, concentrating on reading.

If you still do not have any e-reader and want to get in the mood this new Kindle is probably the best option to try – highly recommend taking off a cape, because the screen is accustomed to risks. Those who already have one, hardly worth the upgrade – the technology is the same for about three years. But for those who want to invest a bit more, the Kindle Paperwhite, at £ 479, is a better deal. It’s what I use normally and screen resolution, slightly better than lighting, which is sharp, but at the same time is not strong enough to bother when you’re in the dark, are advantages that are worth 179 more in my opinion. And who leads eBooks really seriously worth considering the Kindle Voyage, released now and it looks great, but substantially more expensive ($ 219 US).

Following the announcement yesterday, Amazon promised to “soon” one interesting feature: the ‘Tips Vocabulary “. The feature, available in some hottest books in English, let preloaded the definition of more complex words, in smaller font, on top of the text (as if someone had made annotations). It will come as a software update for those who buy this Kindle Touch or Paperwhite.

We expect that other features only available in the US version also soon arrive, as the “x-ray” feature that brings content in some extra books. In Game of Thrones saga, can you check the family tree from time to time, for example. Family sharing (the ability to “borrow” books for family members who also have the device) is another novelty promised soon.

Anyway, read eBooks in Portuguese is getting more interesting, and ultimately cheaper. Amazon has 2,500 free books in print, and often runs promotions bestseller. The e-book market is growing rapidly in Brazil, and with competition from US giant since last year, is likely to expand further.
