The Bombers hosted one last home game before Their ultimate road trip and the MINK League playoffs.

Sedalia used Bombers alumni and current coaching staff to fill out the lineup in Their non-league matchup with the Kansas City Monarchs on Wednesday at Liberty Park in Sedalia.

Jud Kindle Bombers general manager and State Fair Community College head coach, got the start on the mound. He pitched a complete game in a 10-2 victory.

Cody Creed, assigned third-base coach and head coaching duties by default, said his pitcher Showed good command Despite lacking overwhelming velocity.

“He’s definitely throwing strikes and getting outs, and that’s all that matters,” Creed said.

Regular Bombers head coach Craig McAndrews and assistant head coach Adam Steyer started at third and second base, respectivamente. Former Central Missouri Sedalia pitcher and outfielder Kevin Gratza hit a solo home run in the second inning.

Creed admitted he was surprised his GM was so effective on the mound. Others Were not.

“He was a catcher, so” regular Bombers catcher Robert Cummins said. “I guess we can all throw it a little bit.”

While the Bombers expect to compete in the MINK League playoffs – and Currently hold the top spot in the North – Wednesday Could be the end game at Dey Field for some. That is an important sentiment Especially for Bombers third baseman Jordan Dey, Whose late father, Ross, is Dey Field’s namesake.

“It’s kind of bittersweet,” Dey said. “It’s always fun to play baseball. You want to play your whole life. But there’s a point in time where it comes to an end. It’s eat que team. It’s time for me to kind of move on from the game. “

The Bombers are 27-13, and face the Chillicothe Mudcats on Saturday and Nevada Griffons on Monday, July 25, in Their last regular season games . With a 2 1/5 game lead in the MINK League North, winning in October would secure a home game playoff against the runner-up of the MINK League South.
