First things first, you want to back up your device before you restore it to its default settings. This deletes everything on your Kindle. Connect your Kindle to your computer with a USB cable.
Copy the contents of the Documents folder on your Kindle over to your computer. This is all your books and any files you’ve sent to your Kindle.
